Moving and exercising are good for us. We all know it. But do we do it enough? To help you stay active during this holiday, we give you 5 tips in this blog. From low impact, to strength training, to pure play.

Tip 1: Get moving through play

Playing is a way to get moving not only for children but also for adults. During your vacation, there are plenty of games you can come up with to get moving with great fun.

Consider the following:
– Tikkertje en verstoppertje
– Voetjes van de vloer
– Puzzel zoektocht
– Apenkooien
– Hindernislopen

If you are at a campsite, involve other campers. Playing together is even more fun. It is very contagious and everyone enjoys it.

Tip 2: Rent a bike or walk a hiking trail (possibly with a guide)

Bicycles are available for rent in many places, and ready-made walking routes have been mapped out. Whether in wooded or urban areas, there is always something to see.
Walking with a guide is also great fun and very educational. You can find information about this at the local tourist office.

Tip 3: Bodyweight strength exercises

It is important to keep stimulating your muscles. For those who regularly visit a gym, there will be a sense of loss on vacation if there is no gym to be found anywhere. You can easily continue doing strength exercises without equipment. Your own body weight can provide the right stimulus.

Bodyweight strength exercises are:
– Wall-sit
– Plank
– Opdrukken
– Squat
– Boomklimmen
– Optrekken aan tak

Tip 4: Look up water activities

There is water at many holiday destinations; think of swimming pools, the sea, or lakes. Water activities are always great fun and wonderful when it is warm. Besides swimming, you could also look into surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, canoeing, rowing, and water skiing.

Tip 5: Do something you have never done before

If you are going to a mountainous area, check to see if there are any mountain climbing routes or bouldering activities. Skydiving can also be quite a challenge if you have the guts for it.
Bowling, archery, golf, horseback riding, or go-karting are also possible in many places and are sporting activities.
By starting to explore this before your holiday, you will head into your vacation well-prepared, and you will see that it also has an effect on your motivation.

Last but certainly not least: Bring comfortable-fitting (sports) clothing to carry out the activities as comfortably as possible.
