Working out for one or two hours at the gym or even with a personal trainer is a fine investment in a healthy body, but it is not enough. You achieve real results by
to get enough exercise every day. In this blog, tips to move more.
The Remi rule: not just being, but doing.
Perhaps it works the same way at your workplace. One colleague takes turns fetching coffee or tea for the department. Everyone knows Remi's story. He was all alone in the world.
The Remi rule is that everyone gets their own coffee/tea. That's a few extra trips a day.
Move your trash can
Whether at work or at home, people produce a lot of waste. And that waste must, of course, go into the designated bin. By moving this bin 10 meters further, you will take many more steps. At work, this involves extra movement by standing up, walking, and sitting down again. At home, you use the bin most when you are in the kitchen. By placing it outside or in the hallway, you will take more steps.
A walk and 10 squats at every break
At work and on your days off, you probably take regular breaks, whether it's a lunch break or a coffee break. Get into the habit of going for a walk and doing a few exercises, even if it's just a 5-minute walk. Let's say you do this twice, 5 times a week. That's 50 minutes of extra exercise a week. It really adds up when you calculate it over a year. Start with 5 squats and finish with 5 squats, and you'll strengthen your muscle mass as well. An extra tip for ladies who wear heels: make sure you always have comfortable walking shoes with you so that it encourages you to walk more.
Not the car, but the bike or public transport
Sitting in your car on your way to work, only to spend the whole day working behind your screen. Do you recognize yourself in this? The classic tip, of course, is to leave your car at home more often and cycle to work. If this isn't an option, public transport would be another way to get to work. A walk to the bus or train station is then extra exercise. If that isn't an option either, we advise parking your car further away from work. Just a few streets away. That way, you'll still be walking an extra distance every day.
Record your steps
